The Dream Stream, South Platte River

Hartsel, CO (8,864ft)

The Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area (SWA), or “Dream Stream” is located between Spinney Mountain and Eleven Mile Reservoirs.  This gently meandering section of the South Platte River ribbons its way through a broad basin creating the quintessential Colorado trout stream.  “The Dream” offers an amazing array of trout habitat to engage any level of angler.  The abundance of wildlife and panoramic views creates an awe-inspiring backdrop for a fly fishing trip you will not forget.
Additionally, this section of river often offers amazing dry fly opportunities.  Still more, spring and fall spawning seasons bring monster trout up from the depths of the reservoirs into the bend pools, riffles, and runs of the stream.  Fall also presents anglers with the added bonus of the big Kokanee Salmon run, offering a chance to catch Colorado salmon on the fly.  All anglers have the chance to catch the fish of a lifetime on the “Dream Stream.”
