FIRST TROUT ON THE FLY
This week’s pic of the week is submitted by 5280 Angler guide Jeremy Hamilton. Proud father Peter and six-year-old Zachary booked a trip with Jeremy and headed out on the Blue River in Silverthorne this past weekend. Zachary handled the cold spring water and slick cobbles of the Blue like a true champ! Not only that, but young Zachary stuck it out through a morning that didn’t present very many hungry trout. Never giving up, he headed back out after refueling with lunch. He quickly landed this spotted beauty; one cast following the release of his very first trout on the fly. BACK TO BACK! WAY TO GO ZACHARY!
WEEK OF MARCH 1, 2015
5280 ANGLER FLORIDA VACATION!
Guide and 5280 Angler owner Jay Baichi and his family headed South to Florida a couple weeks ago. Though still an escape from the winter weather in Denver, the conditions weren’t as angler-friendly in Florida as he had hoped. This spotted joker was brought to hand using a master combo of stealth & style. To fish like a ninja: Stay low, keep your head on a swivel, high stick, and high kick. Nice work Ahmad!
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 8, 2015
HIS RIVER MONSTER CARP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATHS OF OVER 2,000 BABY GEESE!
Jay knew that a size 10 woolly bugger was just the fly to throw at this pig. Upon hook set, the demon fish ripped line around a bridge support, belly-slid over two concrete water chutes, and charged into the murky depths of an urban plunge pool. A stalemate tug of war ensued. The golden bull wanted desperately to snap that 6 wt. Sage ACCEL at the cork. Not to be. Rod and anglers earned their triumph patiently, and the Beast Fish of Denver finally submitted to Ben’s net…tired, angry, and wickedly photogenic. CARPE DIEM!
